Great idea everyone! I can't wait to watch this forum grow.

I am Kate Plantaganet; I live in Sydney; I am a historian and avid lawn bowler - make of that what you will!

I too would like to upload an avatar, but being techno challenged don't know quite how...

Hello everyone, and thanks to Alianore for undertaking this great new forum.

I'm Mary Reed McCall; I live in upstate New York, and I'm an English teacher and a writer of medieval romance novels. My latest published trilogy is centered on Templar Knights (and two of the novels feature Edward II as a secondary character. ) However, I'm in the process of shifting into writing straight historical fiction...still in the early 14th century but centered at the court of the last Capetians.

Looking forward to "meeting" everyone as well as learning and sharing all sorts of interesting historical tidbits! Smile

Hello, my name is Paul, a British ex-pat who has sometimes added comments on the Edward II site. I'm a big history fan although compared to you guys very much an amateur. I tend to like/sympathise with the Kings referred to as "bad", Edward II, obviously, Richard II and Stephen to name but 3. I used to live a few miles away from Kings Langley which may explain me liking Ed and Ric.

Hi, I've signed on to this blog as Beavermeadow, live in the USA and am fascinated by the British monarchy, but stop at the Tudors. In my opinion, from the Stuarts onward, they were dull.

I'm happy you didn't include Richard lll in the "bad" bunch. According to those of us in the Richard lll Society, he was one of the best, most dedicated kings of England. Maligned, not bad.

As for Stephen and Richard ll, not everyone is suited for Kingship. Some would even rather be carpenters---Louis XVl of France, for instance.

Hiya, I'm Tudorking's cockatiel, also known as the Duchess. My master has been reading medieval history for a couple of years, and has just managed to finish Ian Moritmer's 'The Greatest Traitor' and has thus become reaquainted with the hapless Edward II of England. Mortimer's rather emphatic on the theory that Edward survived Berkely Castle. It's a very interesting book, though the subject is Mortimer, first Earl of March. By the way, my name is Zoe and I, and my would be medievalist person/master, Scott, live in Kansas, USA. Greatings to all. I tried to put my picture here for you, but my person isn't very adept at this stuff.

Hi! I joined like a month ago but did not know about this Welcome page
I am 19 years old , live in San Jose, Costa Rica, and since I was 15 I have been like crazy to know anything about Edward II. I have loved English history and monarchy since a little girl.
I am an amateur compared to all of you who know so much history but would love to debate and talk about Edward II with anyone here.
My dream is to be a writer, as good as Anne Rice if I can! And another dream is to write the best Edward II novel I can make and make justice to this tragic king

Hello everyone!

My name's Rachel, I just joined the forum over the weekend. Thought I'd peek my head in and introduce myself Wink I'm from the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, otherwise known as Stripmall, Illinois. I've followed Alianore's Edward II blog for some time now. I'm not a historian by any stretch of the imagination, I'm merely someone very much in awe of/ in love with Edward's story. Anyway, nice to meet you all!

Hello...
I'm from Seattle and glad to have found you all.
I obtained an interest in Edward II through his son, the Third, and some research on Gascony for a friend's travels.
I'm an historian by training but a computer consultant by vocation.
I'll be reading a lot to start but hope I can contribute later.
Cheers!
